Propylene glycol freezing liquid for neck freezing before disgorging

Freezing Liquid - Neck Freezing - Propylene Glycol:

  • Freezing liquid for disgorging is used for neck freezing and removal of yeast after secondary fermentation in the bottle during the production of sparkling wine, fruit wine, and cider
  • The neck freezing liquid can be diluted before use for neck freezing, as shown in the table below, when used in a champagne freezer, see our selection here
  • If you need to neck freeze champagne bottles in small quantities, you can use a regular chest freezer together with a Fast Rack plastic rack holding 12 champagne bottles, you can find them here

Propylene Glycol for Bottle Neck Freezing

Undiluted, the freezing point is -50°C. Propylene glycol can be diluted with water according to the chart below:

50% propylene glycol: Freezing point: -35 °C
40% propylene glycol: Freezing point: -22 °C
30% propylene glycol: Freezing point: -13 °C
20% propylene glycol: Freezing point: -8 °C

Propylene Glycol, Description

  • The product is manufactured by hydrolysis of propylene oxide (PO) with purified water at high temperature and pressure
  • Clear, hygroscopic liquid with low vapour pressure
  • Odourless and soluble in water
  • Store below 40 °C. Avoid exposure to UV light, air, and heat
  • The glycol must be used in a manner that prevents direct or indirect contamination of the raw material, as the propylene glycol product is not suitable as a direct additive or food ingredient
