Sulphur for Wine and Cider – Sulphite

Sulphur, also known as potassium metabisulphite E224 or Campden sulphur, is used to protect wine, cider and mead against oxidation and unwanted microbiological activity.

Protects must and wine against oxidation
Stabilises before and after fermentation
Can be used to stop a fermentation
Used for disinfecting brewing equipment

Sulphur Dosage

Before fermentation 1 g / 10 L

Stopping fermentation 4 g / 25 L

Disinfection 1–2 g + 0.5 g citric acid / L
